Final Decision - Prospect, OH Post Office

Prospect, OH – In accordance with 39 C.F.R. § 241.4, this is the United States Postal Service’s final decision with respect to the Postal Service’s proposal to relocate retail services from the above-referenced Post Office. The Postal Service has initially identified 200 N. East St, Prospect, OH. If this location is not adequate or an agreement cannot be reached with its owner, the Postal Service will consider other sites.

The Postal Service outlined the proposal with a postcard to local residents and businesses on February 13, 2025, asking for community input. The Postal Service has carefully considered all of the concerns expressed in those discussions, as well as in comments received from the public. For the reasons set forth below, the Postal Service has decided to proceed with the relocation.

Due to Postal Service’s landlord declining to renew its lease at the former facility, relocation was necessary. The Postal Service anticipates providing the same services at the new location as were previously provided to our customers at 120 N Main Street, Prospect, OH 43342. Additionally, the Postal Service plans to continue services at the Richmond Post Office until the replacement facility is open and operating as a Post Office.

While the Postal Service is sensitive to the impact of this decision on its customers and the Charm community, the Postal Service properly considered community input, and this decision is consistent with Postal Service objectives.

Postal Service operations are not supported by tax dollars. To be self-sustaining, the Postal Service must make decisions that ensure it provides adequate and affordable postal services in a manner that is as efficient and economical as possible.

This is the final decision of the Postal Service with respect to this matter, and there is no right to further administrative or judicial review of this decision.
