Meet Panama Postmaster Sherri Williams

Panama Postmaster Sherri Williams

PANAMA, OK — Sherri Williams is the new Postmaster of Panama, OK.

Williams started her postal career as a Rural Carrier in Cameron, OK, in 1998. After one year of service, she took assignments in Poteau, Hevener and Wister. During that time, she also served as a Rural Carrier Facilitator and Driver Safety Instructor. She joined the management ranks in 2016, and served as Supervisor, Customer Services, in McAlester, Poteau and Pryor, before being selected for the Postmaster position in Panama.

In her new role as Postmaster, Williams oversees postal operations in Panama, as well as Bokoshe and Shady Point, with a total of nine employees providing P.O. Box service, retail services and mail delivery on three rural routes.

In 2021, the Postal Service published an ambitious but achievable 10-year strategic plan, Delivering for America. The plan established a path to building a Postal Service that is financially strong and consistently delivers on-time across Oklahoma and America. In the short time since its launch, and under the leadership of Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, the Postal Service has made great progress on its four key pillars: Investing in its people, modernizing its network, providing service excellence, and creating financial sustainability.

Williams remembers starting her career before barcodes and scanners, and when the mail for her route had to be manually sorted. “The Postal Service has made many improvements with tracking, scanning and technology,” said Williams. “The PMG’s delivery plan has been instrumental and I look forward to our continued progress,” she added.

Williams has four grandsons and three granddaughters that she loves with all her heart, and who keep her very busy outside of her Postmaster duties.

“My postal career has been very rewarding, thus far, and I look forward to serving the community as Postmaster of Panama.” – Postmaster Sherri Williams
