WEST LINN — The U.S. Postal Service is moving ahead with plans to relocate the West Linn Post Office. The current lease, located at 5665 Hood St., is tentatively expiring on Feb. 29, 2020.
The Postal Service is discussing options with the current landlord to relocate to a new development near the current site of the post office to keep all retail and carriers together north of the river. If the Postal Service is unable to reach an agreement with the landlord, the Postal Service will seek other property as close as possible to the current location.
The Postal Service will continue all services at the current location until the lease expires. If a new post office is not operational at that time, a temporary site will be used until the replacement facility is open and operating as a post office.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
