Portland, OR - R. Scott Manier was recently sworn in as the newest Postmaster to serve the City of Portland.
Manier joined the U.S. Navy when he was 19 and was stationed on the SSN 711 USS San Francisco from 1988 to 1991. He began his postal career 29 years ago as a Letter Carrier in Edmonds, WA. He has held numerous leadership positions of increased responsibilities, ranging from Field, District, Area and Headquarters’ positions.
“It is a great honor to serve Portland as your new Postmaster. I have seen firsthand the role the Postal Service plays connecting neighbors and our community to the nation. Our Post Offices serve as a lifeline for our small businesses to reach customers no matter where they are.
As outlined in Postmaster General Louis DeJoy’s Delivering For America 10-year plan, we are maintaining universal six-day mail delivery and expanded seven-day package delivery, stabilizing our workforce, and spurring innovation to meet the needs of our modern customers.
My passions are employee development, refining processes, and challenging myself each day to improve on my previous accomplishments. We have been hard at work preparing for the holiday season since January. Rest assured, we’re holiday ready and well prepared to deliver fast and reliable service to every address in Portland and across America.”
Scott and his wife, Marnie, have five daughters and three grandchildren. He enjoys spending time with them, fishing, traveling, coaching little league and watching Alabama football.
The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its operations.
