Manages USPS Services for North Plains Community
Mary Owens is the new Postmaster at the North Plains Post Office, and she has worked hard to get to her new position.
Owens began her Postal career nearly 10 years ago as a carrier in Massachusetts, where she also served as a supervisor in both Framingham and Newton Highlands and an officer in charge (OIC) in Sherborn.
North Plains is her first Postmaster position. She oversees five employees, soon to be six, and three delivery routes.
In her new role Owens plans to, “put the customer first.” This mindset is one key component in the Postal Service’s “Delivering for America” 10-year plan to achieve financial sustainability and service excellence.
Throughout her career she has enjoyed many opportunities but says her most rewarding position so far has been in Framingham, “I have spent most of my postal career in that office and it has allowed me to grow the most.”
Prior to joining the Postal Service, Owens earned her bachelor’s degree from Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts.
Mary comes from a large family and her father — who recommended a postal career to his daughter — is a Supervisor at the Bellingham Post Office in Massachusetts.
In her spare time, she enjoys rock climbing, hiking, and reading.

The United States Postal Service is an independent federal establishment, mandated to be self-financing and to serve every American community through the affordable, reliable and secure delivery of mail and packages to 169 million addresses six and often seven days a week. Overseen by a bipartisan Board of Governors, the Postal Service is implementing a 10-year transformation plan, Delivering for America, to modernize the postal network, restore long-term financial sustainability, dramatically improve service across all mail and shipping categories, and maintain the organization as one of America’s most valued and trusted brands.
The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
