Proposed Relocation of Madras OR Main Post Office

What:

The U.S. Postal Service will send out a postcard for the Madras Main Post Office located at 73 SE 6th St, Madras OR 97741-1703.

Background:

Due to space deficiencies within the building in Madras, the Postal Service is now looking for a new potential relocation of retail service to a yet-to-be-determined location within the 97741-zip code location. The Postal Service will be considering the following options: a) expand the current facility provided Postal Service is able to attain the property next door to the south or north, b) lease an existing building of about 7,000 SF with 32+ parking to move both retail and carriers, c) purchase land of about 65,000 SF to build a new Post Office or d) keep carriers at the current location and either (i) lease an existing building that is about 1,600 SF with 14+ parking or (ii) lease land of about 15,000 SF to place a postal owned modular building.

The relocation project will consist of procuring a suitable substitute location, as close as reasonably possible to the existing location. Retail Services will continue at the current location until all necessary preparations are completed at the new location.
