Postal collection boxes to be removed or locked during Fort Ligonier Days

Postal Service implements precautionary security measure

PITTSBURGH — The Western PA District will implement a temporary public safety measure by removing or locking collection boxes along West Main Street and South Walnut Street during the Fort Ligonier Days annual festival to be held on October 11, 12, and 13.

As with previous Festivals, the United States Postal Service will take out of service mail collection boxes located at 130 W. Main Street, 358 W. Main Street, and 117 South Walnut Street on the afternoon of Thursday, October 10.

Postal officials emphasize this is a precautionary security measure only.  Boxes will be returned by close of business Tuesday, October 15.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
