Postal collection boxes to be temporarily locked out/suspended some retail impacted during President’s visit

Postal Service implements precautionary security measures

PHILADELPHIA — The United States Postal Service, working in conjunction with the Postal Inspection Service and other law enforcement agencies, announced that several mail collection boxes will be blocked and out-of-service during the President’s visit to the National Constitution Center Tuesday. The collection boxes will be removed from service Tuesday, September 15, and will be reopened for service on Wednesday, September 16, 2020. Postal officials emphasize this is a precautionary security measure only.

The retail units listed below will be closed:

  • B Free Franklin 316 Market Street Philadelphia PA 19106
  • William Penn Retail 720 Arch Street Philadelphia PA 19105
  • Caller and PO Box Customers can pick up mail 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
