August Wilson First Day of Issuance (FDOI) postmark to be available at the Pittsburgh Main Post Office, January 28

PITTSBURGH, PA — The First Day of Issuance (FDOI) postmark will be available at the Pittsburgh Main Post Office located at 1001 California Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15290 on Thursday, January 28, 2021 from the hours 8 a.m. till 6 p.m.

If customers are unable to attend on this day, they have 30 days to obtain the FDOI postmark by mail.   They may send a stamped envelope for cancellation along with a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope to:

After applying the first-day-of-issue postmark, the Postal Service will return the envelopes through the mail.

The 44th stamp in the Black Heritage series honors award-winning playwright August Wilson. The stamp will be dedicated on Jan. 28, during a virtual ceremony featured on the Postal Service Facebook and Twitter pages.

One of America’s greatest playwrights, Wilson is hailed as a trailblazer for helping to bring nonmusical African-American drama to the forefront of American theater.

Wilson collected innumerable accolades for his work, including seven New York Drama Critics’ Circle awards, a Tony Award, for 1987’s “Fences,” and two Pulitzer Prizes for “Fences” and “The Piano Lesson,” from 1990.
