Andrew Gomer Williams was born on September 8, 1840, in Richmond, VA. His life would lead him to become an American hero, and a public serving figure in Butler, PA, and the State of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Williams served as the Captain of Company E of the 63rd PA Volunteers during the Civil War. He fought honorably for the Union in over a dozen battles and was wounded four times. After the war, the former officer became a prominent attorney in Butler.
His life of service to his community and Nation was found to be exceptional and selfless.
Andrew Gomer Williams passed away in Butler, PA on April 6, 1923, at the age of 83.
