Havertown Post Office Letter Carriers Taking Bite Out of the Dog

Post Office out to educate the importance of dog restraint

HAVERTOWN, PA  –  The Havertown Post Office will be offering hot dogs to its letter carriers while also featuring an information booth for customers as part of the Postal Service’s National Dog Bite Awareness Week which runs June 4 through June 10.

Background:

Manager Danielle Candelora’s creative theme: “Take a Bite Out of the Dog” is part of an awareness campaign to help reduce dog attacks.
The USPS experienced over 5,300 attacks nationwide in 2022.
Pennsylvania had the fourth most dog bites in the nation last year (313 attacks)
Philadelphia alone had 28 attacks in 2022.
The Havertown Post Office had 4 incidents.

“Every year, thousands of postal employees are attacked by dogs as they deliver America’s mail. And while it’s a dog’s natural instinct to protect their family and home, we ask all customers to act responsibly by taking safety precautions with their dogs while the mail is being delivered,” said Havertown Manager Danielle Candelora.
