LEBANON, PA – More than 150 members of the community attended the Lebanon Post Office dedication for Lt. William D. Lebo yesterday which included police officers, the mayor of Lebanon city, and Lieutenant Lebo’s family.
“Today would’ve been Bill’s 67th birthday,” said Lora Lebo, the wife of slain officer Lebo. “And I thought it would be most proper today be the day to celebrate his life. Bill was very humble and did not like to celebrate himself or to draw attention, but it’s my favorite thing to do, so here we are.” She also encouraged everyone to “go hug a police officer today.”
Lieutenant Lebo was killed in the line of duty on March 31, 2022, while leading a group of police officers who were responding to a domestic disturbance. The 63-year-old police veteran was set to retire one month later.
On May 7, 2024, legislation to designate the Post Office building, located at 101 South 8th Street in Lebanon, as the “Lieutenant William D. Lebo Post Office Building” was signed into law by the President. This legislation was introduced in the United States House of Representatives by Representative Daniel Meuser (PA-09).
