New Holland Post Office Three Letter Carriers Million Mile Club Awards

NEW HOLLAND, PA — Letter Carriers Anthony Weinhold, Curtis Simmons and Richard Andrews were inducted into the National Safety Council Million Mile club today with a combined 93 years of driving excellence.

When asked about tips for fellow letter carriers, all three said, “Be patient and know your surroundings.” For advice to the public when they see a mail truck, “Provide enough room when you are passing us and be patient, we also live and work in the community.”

District Manager Maureen Gerst-Stewart explained, “While the USPS continues to transform and modernize to meet our customers’ needs, there will always be that element of personal engagement that these three has exhibited throughout their careers.”

Senior Safety Specialist Lora Halpin added this perspective, “This achievement is equivalent to each of these letter carriers driving round trip from New Holland to York on US 30 11,904 times without a preventable accident.”

The Million Mile Club is part of the Safe Driver Award program created by the National Safey Council highlighting drivers with 1 million miles of driving or 30 accumulated years driven without preventable accidents. The Safe Driver Award is the trademark of the expert driver and is recognized as the nation’s highest award for professional safe driving.
