Equivalent to 20,000 Round Trips to Harrisburg Without a Preventable Accident
MILLERSBURG, PA — Letter Carriers Eric Pinkerton and Edwin Rice were inducted into the National Safety Council Million Mile club with a combined 73 years of driving excellence.
Postmaster Misty Miller said, “While the USPS continues to transform and modernize to exceed our customers’ needs, there will always be that element of personal engagement that these two have exhibited throughout their careers.”
Manager Post Office Operations Lisa Pecht added this perspective, “This achievement is equivalent to both of these professionals to drive from Millersburg to Harrisburg for 20,000 round trips without a preventable accident.”
Some words of advice from the five to fellow letter carriers were, “Expect the unexpected and be careful of your surroundings for every day is different.
The Million Mile Club is part of the Safe Driver Award program created by the National Safey Council highlighting drivers with 1 million miles of driving or 30 accumulated years driven without preventable accidents. The Safe Driver Award is the trademark of the expert driver and is recognized as the nation’s highest award for professional safe driving.
