Mayaguez, PR — The US Postal Service is working diligently to ensure uninterrupted mail delivery service for all customers who are dealing with the consequences of recent seismic activity in Puerto Rico. Officials report that postal operations continue to be evaluated and modified based on conditions. Three post office facilities remain under repair with alternate PO Box mail pick-up points in place. However, service to customers in all ZIP Codes across Puerto Rico is being provided. 

Mayaguez Main Post Office remains one of three post office facilities with alternate mail pick-up with postal officials reporting an update to that service estimated for next week. 

Starting as early as Thursday, January 23, Mayaguez postal customers will see equipment arriving for a temporary distribution location on the grounds of the Mayaguez Main Post Office (60 Calle de la Candelaria W, Mayaguez, 00680). 

This interim solution will allow PO Box customers to retrieve their mail and to obtain postal services through Postal Service Mobile Units, available onsite from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Postal officials indicate that the temporary retail and PO Box services will be functioning sometime next week and additional notice will be provided to the users of that location at that time. 

New keys will be issued to PO Box customers to allow access to their mail, however, customers should retain old PO Box keys in order to access their previous boxes once repair projects are completed. Repairs to the Main Post Office in Mayaguez are estimated to be finalized by summertime this year.

Mayaguez PO Box customers will continue to pick up items at Marina Station (270 Calle de la Candelaria, Mayaguez, 00680) until the temporary box location opens.
