YAUCO, PR — The U.S. Postal Service has made a final decision to continue retail operations of the Yauco, PR, Main Post Office at its present location (Yauco Plaza #1 Shopping Center, Yauco, PR 00698).

Earlier this year, retail services at the Yauco Plaza #2 location were temporarily relocated to the Yauco Plaza #1 site.  This decision permanently relocates retail operations to the current office. Traditionally, the Postal Service would hold a public meeting to discuss the potential relocation and explain the process and invite questions; however, the COVID-19 pandemic is impacting communities, particularly as it relates to the guidance to reduce public gatherings. 

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, instead of a public meeting, customers serviced by the Yauco, PR, Post Office were mailed a postcard and asked to send in their comments on the proposal. Public opinions expressed and comments received were carefully considered in making this decision.

This action will allow the Postal Service to maintain retail operations for customers in the Yauco, PR, area for the long-term, thus further improving service to the community.

The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
