The Postmaster General Hero Award, one of the most prestigious honors for postal employees, is given to those who perform a heroic act above and beyond the call of duty while on the job.

Murfreesboro, TN City Carrier Assistant Chasity Lowe was delivering mail when a new customer on her route asked if she had seen her husband as he had somehow wandered away from his home. About an hour and a half later, Lowe spotted the gentleman sitting on the stairs to a church on her route. She stopped and called the family members who were searching for him. Lowe sat and tried to comfort the gentleman who was cold, weak, and confused.
