Background:
The Postmaster General Hero Award, one of the most prestigious honors for postal employees, is given to those who perform a heroic act above and beyond the call of duty while on the job.
Huntingdon, TN City Carrier Assistant Jodee Jones was delivering mail on her route when she noticed smoke coming from the roof of a house. She had no deliveries for the address, yet she happened to glance at the house. Jones immediately called 911, and firefighters arrived in minutes. The homeowners were very grateful as the firefighters told them that if the call had not been made at that time, the home would have been a total loss.
