ARLINGTON, TN – Denise Mitchell was recently named the Postmaster of the Arlington Post Office.

As Arlington Postmaster, Mitchell supervises six postal clerks, one custodian and manages 25 Rural Carriers and 18 Rural Carrier Assistants. She is responsible for overseeing retail services at the Arlington, Brunswick and Gallaway Post Offices as well as the daily distribution of mail to approximately 17,000 addresses and more than 1,405 PO Boxes combined.

Mitchell is a 30-year postal employee who has held various positions at the Memphis Processing & Distribution Center as well as supervisor and manager, customer services at several post offices. She began her postal career as a mail handler at the Memphis Processing and Distribution Center in Memphis, TN.

“I’m overjoyed to be entrusted with the daily operations of the Arlington, Brunswick and Gallaway Post Offices and to join the list of those who served in this capacity before me,” said Mitchell. “I hope to continue to provide outstanding customer service to the community, and to contribute to the overall success of the Postal Service.

“As outlined in USPS’s Delivering for America plan, we are modernizing and continually adapting to the changing needs of our customers. Our customers are priority one, whether they’re located in the biggest cities or smaller communities such as Arlington, Brunswick and Gallaway.

“I want to express my heartfelt appreciation to my family and to many USPS mentors for their encouragement, guidance and support over the years,” said Mitchell. Her sister, Debra Williams, is a retired Atlanta, GA postal processing clerk with 28 years of service. Her father, Willie Mitchell, is a retired Memphis P&DC Quality Control Specialist with 45 years of postal service. Her daughter, Mickele, recently graduated from Austin Peay Stay University with a BBA in Marketing.

Mitchell graduated from Memphis State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration. She loves to travel, read, relax, spend time with her family, and most importantly enjoy life.
