U.S. Postal Service to Hold Public Meeting in Lufkin, TX, February 28

Meeting to discuss potential relocation of postal retail services

LUFKIN, TX — The U.S. Postal Service is considering the potential relocation of retail services that were provided at the Lufkin Downtown Post Office, located at 608 E. Lufkin Rd., Lufkin, TX 75902-9913, to a new, yet-to-be-determined location as close as reasonably possible to the existing Post Office location in order to better serve postal customers in the community.

The U.S. Postal Service will be hosting a public meeting at 4:30 p.m., on Thursday, February 28, 2019, at the Lufkin City Hall, located at 300 E. Shepherd, Suite 102, Lufkin, TX 75902. Officials with the Postal Service’s Facilities Department will be there to share information and answer questions.

Postal customers, including those unable to attend the February 28 meeting, may submit written comments to the following address:

The Postal Service will consider all comments prior to making its final decision. All comments and recommendations received by March 29, 2019, will be considered.

A public notice, along with a copy of the Postal Service’s letter to Mayor Bob Brown, is currently posted in the community.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
