Mail Delivery Update for Dallas, TX Customers

Dallas, TX — The tornado that struck parts of the Dallas area on Sunday, Oct. 20, could have some impacts to local mail delivery.  All Post Offices in the Dallas, TX area, are open and operational; however, residential and business customers may be affected, if their mail receptacle was damaged.  Additionally, in some locations, letter carriers may be unable to access certain neighborhoods, streets, homes, or businesses.  We will provide mail delivery as long as we can safely do so.

If your mailbox was damaged, or if your letter carrier cannot safely access your location, any mail and packages will be taken back to the local Post Office.  All items will be held securely and safely until customers are able to retrieve them.  To obtain your mail or packages, affected customers may come to the Post Office that serves their ZIP Code and pick up items.  To safeguard all mail and packages, customers picking up items must have at least one valid form of identification.  Valid forms of ID include a driver’s license or a passport.

Although no postal facilities were damaged, there is one location where customers should use caution when visiting. The Preston Royal Finance Unit, located at 5959 Royal Ln., Ste. 539, Dallas, TX  75230, is open and operational. However, due to the closure of the intersection at Preston and Royal, customers must park and walk to the facility, where mail is available for pickup.

Customers can call 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777) to obtain information, including available Post Office retail locations and hours of operation by checking the Postal Service website at www.usps.com.  The Postal Service’s smartphone app makes it even quicker to use the most popular functions on usps.com, anytime and anywhere.

We appreciate the patience of our customers, as the Postal Service continues to reconnect customers with their mail and packages.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
