U.S. Postal Service Official Update: Recovery Continuing after Tropical Storm Imelda

Houston, TX — The Postal Service continues recovery efforts for its operations daily, and is delivering mail and providing services in our Post Offices in the Houston and surrounding areas, wherever it is safe to do so.  For those Post Offices still unable to be occupied, we are currently operating in alternate locations, until repairs can be made.

We appreciate our customers’ patience as we continue to work hard to resume normal postal operations in Houston and the surrounding area.

Effective Wednesday, Nov. 13, normal operations will resume at the Devers Post Office, located at 102 S. Gates St, Devers, TX  77538.  Hours of operation are:  Mon.-Fri. 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. and Sat 9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.; closed on Sunday. 

There have been no changes to these impacted offices:

  • Mauriceville Post Office, 11424 Highway 12, TX  77626
    • All operations for the Mauriceville Post Office are being conducted in Mobile Retail Units located on the Mauriceville Post Office parking lot 

      Retail Hours: M-F 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. /1:00 p.m.-4:30 p.m.
      PO Box Mail Available: M-F 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Operations for the Stowell Post Office have been moved to the following alternate location.

  • Winnie Post Office, 324 Highway 124, Winnie, TX  77665

    Hours of operation:  M-F 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 a.m.

Operations for the Nome Post Office have been moved to the following alternate location.

  • China Post Office 305 N Broadway St, China, TX  77613

    Hours of operation: M-F 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m./1:00PM-4:30 p.m.

We are committed to serving our customers and to being there for the residents in the Houston surrounding areas, as recovery from Tropical Storm Imelda continues.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
