AUSTIN, TX — The Postal Service’s number one priority between now and Election Day is the secure, timely delivery of the nation’s Election Mail. Since Sept. 4, the Postal Service has processed and delivered more than 122 million ballots, including both blank ballots delivered from election officials to voters and completed ballots from voters to election officials.
With a continued focus and to assist voters on Election Day, the Austin General Mail Facility, located at 8225 Cross Park Drive, will extend retail hours and be open from 7:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. In addition, there will be a drive-up opportunity for voters to hand their ballots to a USPS employee in the parking lot from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
As voters drive by, they can hand their ballot to employees on-site. Employees will date stamp the ballot, and then send it on to be sorted and prepared for the applicable election board. All USPS employees will be following social distancing guidelines and wearing face coverings.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
