Dugger-Williams began her Postal career as a Rural Carrier Associate (RCA) in Kingwood, TX, in 2001. She served in Humble, Rockdale and Temple in her role as an RCA. To promote a safe work environment, she took on the role of Safety Ambassador in 2016. In 2020, Dugger-Williams embarked on her journey in management. She served as a Supervisor, Customer Services, in Taylor, and then in Temple, prior to being selected for the position of Postmaster of La Grange.
As Postmaster, Dugger-Williams oversees postal operations in La Grange, with seven rural routes, three city routes and seventeen employees, as well as at the Ellinger and Plum post offices with two additional employees.
Dugger-Williams looks forward to working with the La Grange team to achieve the goals of Delivering for America, the Postal Service’s 10-year plan for achieving financial sustainability and service excellence. The plan, published in 2021, established a path to building a Postal Service that is financially strong and consistently delivers on-time across Texas and the nation. In the short time since its launch, the Postal Service has made great progress on its four key pillars: Investing in its people, modernizing its network, providing service excellence, and creating financial sustainability.
“Safety is one of my main priorities when it comes to Postal employees. I also focus on how the Postal Service can help small businesses grow with the products and services we offer,” says Dugger-Williams.
Dugger-Williams’ family includes her husband, Richard; three children – Texanna (and Bryon), Charles, and Dominique (and Maessi); and one granddaughter, Khrystalline. When not at work, she enjoys reading and spending time with her family.
“With today’s technological networking advancements, I look forward to working with small local businesses to get them the products and services they need to bring the world to them. Delivering for America is not just a plan, it’s about the customer and getting them connected easier and faster than ever before.” – Postmaster Sonya Dugger-Williams.
