Oath of Office Ceremony Quaid Chambers, 30th Postmaster of Dumas, Texas

Quaid Chambers, Dumas, TX Postmaster taking oath of office

DUMAS, TX — On April 12, a heartwarming moment took place at the local post office as a father proudly administered the Oath of Office to his son, officially installing him as the new Postmaster of Dumas, Texas.

Quaid Chambers grew up watching his father, James, go to his job at the Post Office every day with a sense of pride and purpose. He admired his father's work ethic and determination, and it inspired him to follow in his footsteps. After years of hard work and dedication, Quaid achieved his dream of becoming a Postmaster, just like his father. When it came time to select an official to administer the Oath of Office, Quaid knew there was only one person he wanted to fill that role.

Fort Myers, FL, Postmaster James Chambers began his Postal Service career over 30 years ago.  He recalls Quaid accompanying him on several business trips over the years. “I didn’t realize then how much he was paying attention,” said James. “Being able to administer the Oath of Office to my son was a very special time for me. I am very proud both as a fellow Postmaster and a father.”

Quaid is a native of Idaho who began his Postal career as a Holiday Relief Clerk in Hammond, LA, in 2018. In his new role, he oversees delivery and retail operations in Dumas, Channing and Hartley, Texas, with 17 employees, serving approximately 14,200 residents.

“Being able to stand in front of my father while he administered the Oath of Office will forever be a cherished memory of mine. I was able to show him that everything he and my mother taught me helped me to shape my future the way I wanted,” said Quaid.
