USPS invites media to tour Corpus Christi, TX, on Tuesday, December 10

USPS mail processing operations are being viewed through a rare behind-the-scenes media opportunity, inviting media representatives to witness the process during the most rewarding time of the year.

Background:

The Postal Service is revitalizing its network of nearly 19,000 delivery units, focusing on Delivering for America. This includes 83 revitalized sorting and delivering centers, 506 new package sorting machines, and 158 new sorting machines since the last peak season. The $40 billion investment in new technology and facilities under the Delivering for America plan enables faster and more reliable sorting and processing of packages. The daily processing capacity has increased to approximately 60 million, allowing packages to move through the postal network more quickly. The Postal Service has also hired 7,500 seasonal employees.
