USPS Considers Relocation of Retail Services for the Former East Austin Post Office

45-day Comment Period Commences

AUSTIN, TX — The U.S. Postal Service is considering relocation of retail services previously provided at the East Austin Station, located at 1914 E 6th Street, Austin TX 78702, to a new, yet-to-be-determined location as close as reasonably possible to the previous Post Office location.

The relocation project will consist of procuring a suitable substitute location, preparing the new location for use as a post office and then transitioning retail services to the new location. The Postal Service is considering locations within three miles of the previous facility to be included in the search area. Retail services will continue to be available at 4516 Burleson Road, Austin, TX 78744 until the new post office is up and running.

In lieu of a public meeting, we are inviting customers to send their comments on the project to the following address. Comments must be received no later than February 2, 2025.

Attn: Austin, TX, East Austin Station Relocation
U.S. Postal Service
PO Box 27497
Greensboro, NC 27498-1103

After the 45-day comment period, the Postal Service will consider the comments received. Following that consideration, the Postal Service will make a final decision to proceed with, modify, or cancel the project.

East Austin Post Office customers have been notified about the relocation through a postcard in the mail and will have the opportunity to provide comments.
