BEDFORD, TX — As part of the United States Postal Service’s “For the Long Haul” initiative, we are proud to celebrate Richard Anthony, a dedicated Letter Carrier, who has faithfully served the Bedford, TX community for over 25 years. Richard’s unwavering commitment and exceptional service have made him a beloved figure in the neighborhood he serves.
“For the Long Haul” is an initiative designed to honor the remarkable dedication of long-serving employees like Richard, who have become integral parts of their communities. Over the years, he has developed lasting relationships with residents, going above and beyond to ensure their mail is delivered with care and reliability.
Richard began his postal career in 1980 and was recently recognized for over 45 years of service. He is a dedicated community member, actively participating in the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Annual Food Drive by collecting over 2,000 lbs. of food in two separate years.
“I’ve never seen this as just a job—it’s always been a career. Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of working with and being mentored by countless individuals. Some of their names may escape me, but many have left an unforgettable impact, shaping me into the professional Letter Carrier I am today,” said Anthony.
Bedford Postmaster Sylvia Black said, “Richard is very active in the community – from sending care packages to deployed overseas service members to playing Santa for families in need, we are proud to honor him as part of our 'For the Long Haul' initiative and celebrate the positive impact he has made on so many lives in Bedford."
