Like Father, Like Daughter

Macy Wolf, the new Postmaster of Vega, Texas.

AMARILLO, TX – Amarillo Postmaster Landon Thornton recently had the opportunity to do something that not many fathers, or Postmasters, get to do. He administered the Oath of Office to his daughter, Macy Wolf, officially installing her as the new Postmaster of Vega, Texas.

Macy began her Postal career in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic. She always wanted to follow in her father’s footsteps because she views her dad as an inspirational leader.  Landon started his career as a mail carrier in Amarillo in 1990 and has been the Postmaster there since 2018.  “I have fond memories of my dad as a mail carrier. As a leader, he is consistent and knows how to motivate people into doing things the correct way,” she said.

Macy was hired as a City Carrier Assistant and wasted no time expressing interest in a management role once she became a career employee. She began an assignment as an Acting Supervisor, Customer Services, and was promoted into the position in 2023. As she honed her skills, she continued to seek other career opportunities to gain a more diverse knowledge of the entire operation, from start to finish, within a Post Office. In the Fall of 2024, Macy applied for the Vega, TX, Postmaster position and was the successful candidate. She brings to the role a passion to serve the community and a desire to make the Vega post office a place of trust and support for everyone. “Providing exceptional customer service, efficient retail services and reliable mail delivery is my commitment to the Vega community,” said Macy.

Macy and her family are excitedly awaiting the arrival of her second child, a boy who will be named Landon, a tribute to a man who has inspired her all of her life.
