VALENTINE, TX — The Valentine Post Office has revealed the official 2026 customized pictorial postmark that will grace Valentine’s Day greeting cards and letters this year.

Since 1994, the official postmark has been selected from an art contest among students of the Valentine Independent School District (ISD). This year’s winning artist is 11th grader Romeo Garcia. “This is the view I see when I wake up every morning and I wanted to share the landscape in my little corner of the world with others,” said Garcia. He is the son of Monica Navarrette of Van Horn, and Rene Garcia of Poolville. Romeo is a life-long student of Valentine ISD. When not drawing, he enjoys playing basketball, video games and exploring the area through hiking.

The Valentine Post Office receives thousands of Valentines and greeting cards every year to be stamped with the postmark, only available in Valentine, and mailed to loved ones, sometimes miles and miles away. Postmaster Ismelda Ornelas, a Valentine ISD alumni and contest winner herself, personally hand-cancels over 10,000 envelopes annually. “The Valentine Post Office turns into the ‘Love Station’ around this time every year. I look forward to applying our unique postmark to every love letter and greeting card that comes through for delivery to that special valentine somewhere around the world,” said Ornelas.

A mail-in request for the customized postmark is simple. Address a greeting card or letter to that special person(s), affix a First-Class Mail postage stamp to each, and place in a larger envelope, also with appropriate postage. Address the larger envelope to:

There is no charge for requests for up to 50 cancellations. Requests for more than 50 cancellations will be charged five cents for each additional cancellation. The cancellation is available until March 14, 2026.
