Earns Membership in National Safety Council’s Million Mile Club
PROVO, UT – A Provo postal carrier has been inducted into the prestigious National Safety Council’s Million Mile Club for 30 years of accident-free driving on the job.
Provo City Carrier Angela Moulton received the Million Mile Club plaque from Provo Postmaster Rick Brandon in a ceremony among her coworkers on March 28.
The Million Mile Club award is presented to drivers who have driven one-million miles or 30 years of driving without being involved in a preventable motor vehicle accident.
“Our carriers deliver the mail in all kinds of weather and face daily hazards on their routes,” said Brandon. “So for Angela to have driven a million miles without a preventable accident is a tremendous achievement. She stands as a great example not only to our workforce, but to drivers everywhere.”
The nation’s 31,000 plus Post Offices are linked by more than 230,000 vehicles – the world largest civilian fleet. Nearly 300,000 letter carriers and truck drivers log more than 1.4 billion miles annually when delivering to America’s 157 million addresses.
“The USPS is proud of its employees who daily provide excellent customer service, while safeguarding themselves and the neighborhoods they serve,” said Brandon.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
