NEW KENT, VA — The U.S. Postal Service has made a final decision to relocate the New Kent Post Office to a yet-to-be determined facility.
A public meeting was held on Jan. 30, 2019, to discuss the proposed relocation. Public opinions expressed in those discussions and comments received after the public meeting were carefully considered in making this decision.
The Postal Service's goal is to select a new customer service location as close to the current site as possible. Consideration will be given to sites that are convenient to customers and will meet all USPS operational needs.
The Postal Service plans to continue to offer services at the existing Post Office until the new facility is open and operating as a Post Office. There will not be any changes to mail delivery.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
