Background:

The Barracks Road Post Office will be dedicated as the Captain Humayun Khan Post Office in a formal ceremony on September 9, 2019. Captain Khan made the ultimate sacrifice for his country in Iraq on June 8, 2004.

Senator Tim Kaine and Senator Mark R. Warner supported the bill for renaming the Post Office after Captain Khan. The bill was signed into Public Law 116-15 by the president on April 16, 2019.

The ceremony is free and open to the public.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
