The U.S. Postal Service is modernizing its operations to accommodate growing customer demand for package delivery which was especially evident in the last holiday mailing season. A total of 118 new package sorting machines are being installed throughout the U.S. The machines can process thousands of packages an hour – up to 12 times faster than manual sorting. Deployment of these package sorter machines are part of USPS’ 10-year operating plan that includes a $40 billion investment in people, equipment and technology.
