Providing USPS Retail Services for Mountlake Terrace Customers
Mountlake Terrace, WA — The Mountlake Terrace Post Office has a new Postmaster, Steve Tran.
Tran, born in Vietnam and raised in Seattle, has been with the Postal Service for nearly 30 years. He began his career as a letter carrier, and for the last six years he was a supervisor of customer service in Lynnwood.
As Postmaster, Tran is helping the Postal Service achieve positive results in the “Delivering for America” 10-year plan, “overseeing the retail service, resolving any customer service issues, and continuing to provide excellent services to the Mountlake Terrace Community.”
“I’m super excited to have the opportunity to serve the Mountlake Terrace Community,” said Tran. He follows in the footsteps of previous Postmasters who have served the Mountlake Terrace Post Office since the mid-1950s.
As a retail service only location, the Mountlake Terrace Post Office doesn’t have delivery routes. Instead Tran and his two staffers oversee nearly 700 Post Office boxes and provide retail services to the public such as providing stamps and shipping products.
When asked about his success, Tran credits his family and coworkers, “My mom for all the hard work to raise me up. My wife and daughter always there for their support, and all my fellow co-workers and employees who always gave their all to help our company to succeed.”
Tran lives with his wife and daughter and supports his community through charitable donations. On his days off he enjoys gaming, like to go fishing, and watches horse racing.

The United States Postal Service is an independent federal establishment, mandated to be self-financing and to serve every American community through the affordable, reliable and secure delivery of mail and packages to 169 million addresses six and often seven days a week. Overseen by a bipartisan Board of Governors, the Postal Service is implementing a 10-year transformation plan, Delivering for America, to modernize the postal network, restore long-term financial sustainability, dramatically improve service across all mail and shipping categories, and maintain the organization as one of America’s most valued and trusted brands.
The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
