James Kenn Named Sumas Postmaster

Manages USPS Services for Sumas Community

James Kenn Sumas Postmaster

Sumas, WA — The Sumas Post Office opened more than 100 years ago. And in that time, dozens of Postmasters have served with pride. Now, it’s James Kenn’s turn to take the reins as the newest Postmaster for the Sumas community.

Born in Illinois and raised in Iowa, Kenn joined the Postal Service 16 years ago. He began his career as a carrier, and for the last, nearly five years, he worked in Bellingham as a customer service supervisor.

As Postmaster, he oversees the management of the day-to-day workings of the Post Office which includes serving more than 3,000 addresses, two rural routes, 3,200 Post Office boxes, four employees, and ensuring the organization’s rules and procedures are followed.

Kenn is “excited and encouraged” to be in his new job and knows that he is one piece of the larger puzzle that is the “Delivering for America” 10-year plan to achieve financial stability and service excellence.

“I look forward to continuing to provide excellent community relationship and service.”

When asked about his path to Postmaster, he credits his family and postal managers for their support.

Kenn is married with two children and enjoys traveling in his free time.
