Continues Cross Country Quest to Engage Employees and Customers
SEATTLE — Postmaster General Louis DeJoy visited several Washington locales — Seattle, Tacoma and Tukwila — last week as part of his ongoing drive to personally engage postal employees and tour facilities around the country. DeJoy’s stop in the “Evergreen State” directly followed his tour of postal facilities and engagement with employees in Alaska.
While in Tukwila, nearly 200 postal employees gathered at the Museum of Flight to hear DeJoy outline the significant progress the organization has made under the Delivering for America (DFA) 10-year plan. Additionally, he thanked employees for their hard work and dedication through the pandemic.
DeJoy’s comments touched on many of the improvements currently underway at various postal facilities across the nation to include adding new equipment, expanding space for operations, and renovating facilities to improve efficiencies and the overall work environment for employees. He also stressed that while significant progress has been made since the launch of the DFA plan two years ago, there is still much more to do.
DeJoy routinely visits postal facilities throughout the country to meet with staff, share news and to see the DFA improvements that are taking place. He is also fresh off a tour in Georgia and an interview with Time magazine.

The United States Postal Service is an independent federal establishment, mandated to be self-financing and to serve every American community through the affordable, reliable and secure delivery of mail and packages to 169 million addresses six and often seven days a week. Overseen by a bipartisan Board of Governors, the Postal Service is implementing a 10-year transformation plan, Delivering for America, to modernize the postal network, restore long-term financial sustainability, dramatically improve service across all mail and shipping categories, and maintain the organization as one of America’s most valued and trusted brands.
The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
