KIEL, WI — The United States Postal Service held a special dedication ceremony celebrating the renaming of the Kiel Post Office in honor of Wisconsin State Trooper Trevor J. Casper, a native of Kiel who gave his life in the line of duty.

The event brought together family, friends, state officials, law enforcement, and community members to commemorate Trooper Casper’s legacy of bravery and service. Speakers included U.S. Congressman Glenn Grothman, who sponsored the federal legislation to rename the facility, District Attorney Eric Toney, and retired Wisconsin State Patrol Superintendent Anthony Burrell.

Wisconsin District Manager Wanda Prater opened the ceremony by recognizing Trooper Casper’s family and the importance of memorializing local heroes. “This dedication ensures that Trevor’s name and service are forever part of the community he loved,” said Prater.

The renaming honors Trooper Casper, who was tragically killed on his first solo shift in 2015 while protecting the public during a high-risk incident. At just 21 years old, he became the youngest officer in Wisconsin history to be killed in the line of duty.

Kiel Postmaster Tami Ausloos, who served as emcee, delivered heartfelt dedication remarks:

“Today, by renaming this post office in his honor, we ensure that Trevor’s legacy will live on—not only in the stories we share, but in the very heart of the city he called home. This building will stand as a daily reminder of the bravery, sacrifice, and deep-rooted commitment that defined his short but impactful life.”

The unveiling of the official signage was led by members of Trooper Casper’s family, joined by USPS officials and distinguished guests. The ceremony concluded with a benediction by Pastor John Putnam and the retiring of the colors by the Wisconsin State Patrol Honor Guard.

The facility will now bear the name "Trooper Trevor J. Casper Post Office", serving as a permanent tribute to a life of service, courage, and sacrifice.
