Following established separation procedures when an employee leaves USPS® protects the organization’s systems, information, and property. The following required actions support timely, secure separations and are based on the standards outlined in Handbook AS-805, Information Security.
Managers must do the following:
n Notify the Human Resource Shared Service Center or district HR within 1 business day of an employee’s departure.
n Click the suspend button in eAccess within1 business day of the employee’s departure to revoke their access to USPS systems.
n Complete all required documentation confirming that system access has been revoked and all USPS-issued property has been returned.
Employees must return all USPS-issued property by their last day of work, including badges, access cards, laptops, cell phones, keys, and other IT equipment.
More detailed separation guidance and resources about employee separations are available on MyHR and in the Employee Management Tool.
