Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President
Joseph Corbett was named chief financial officer (CFO) and executive vice president in February 2009. He reports to the Postmaster General and chief executive officer and is part of the Executive Leadership Team. Corbett also serves as the chairman of the Investment Review Committee.
In his role as CFO and executive vice president, Corbett heads the organization’s Finance and Strategy, Treasury, Accounting, Pricing and Costing and Supply Management functions.
Corbett has over 35 years of finance, treasury and accounting experience. He also has extensive experience in strategy, financial planning and analysis, procurement, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and financial reporting, and banking and capital market transactions. He began his career working with “Big Four” accounting firm KPMG, where he served for more than a decade and worked as a senior member of their Commercial Practice Group, serving publicly and privately held companies in the manufacturing, professional services and transportation industries.
Corbett also spent more than 10 years in senior management roles at three-multibillion-dollar commercial companies, where he served as controller, chief accounting officer, executive vice president and CFO at Intelsat, Ltd; chief accounting officer and CFO at BearingPoint, Inc.; and chief of internal audit at NVR, Inc. During his time with these companies, Corbett led multiple efforts related to all aspects of accounting, financial planning and reporting and treasury transactions including an initial public debt offering and numerous other SEC-filed capital market transactions. Corbett’s success as a transformational leader in complex environments and accounting situations aligns with financial needs unique to the Postal Service.
Corbett graduated with honors from George Washington University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in business administration and was later admitted to the GWU Athletic Hall of Fame. Corbett has chaired Sarbanes-Oxley and Retirement Plan committees and is currently a member of the Phoenix Bikes and GWU advisory boards. Corbett is a Lean Six Sigma certified Green Belt.
