Vice President, Chief Data and Analytics Officer
Stephen Dearing was named vice president, chief data and analytics officer in August 2023. He reports to the chief information officer and executive vice president.
In this role, Dearing is responsible for reporting service performance, managing enterprise data sources, leading transformational analytics and executing advanced modeling across the Postal Service.
Before this role, Dearing served as the senior director, Business Intelligence and Operational Analytics, where he led the Postal Service’s efforts to leverage data and analytics to measure and improve service, increase operational efficiency and provide insights on mail volume and inventory.
Dearing began his Postal Service career in 1985 as a letter carrier in Bartlett, Illinois. Throughout his career, he has led the Postal Service’s efforts to leverage technology and data across the organization to enhance efficiency, enable predictive delivery capabilities and improve the customer experience. He has also served as a leader in multiple Headquarters roles including director, Corporate Reporting; executive manager, Mailing Information Systems; and manager, Address Quality. He was instrumental in creating the Informed Visibility platform which combined data from over 40 sources, enabling analytics and service measurement of over 20 billion mail pieces per quarter.
Dearing is a graduate of the Postal Service Executive Leadership Program and is a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. He currently holds 18 awarded patents with the Postal Service and has another 11 pending.
