Peter Pastre, Vice President, Government Relations and Public Policy

Peter Pastre was named vice president, Government Relations and Public Policy in September of 2020. In this role, he directs a team of 40 government relations and policy professionals engaged in advancing the legislative agenda of the Postal Service, congressional oversight activity, congressional correspondence and public policy communication. He reports to the Postmaster General.

Prior to his appointment to his current position, Pastre spent nearly three decades as a government relations executive in the private sector, primarily in the global life insurance industry. During that time, he led numerous industry task forces, reform agendas, legislative strategy committees, strategic communications initiatives, coalitions and issue campaigns.

Prior to his corporate government relations career, Pastre also served as a legislative aide for a United States Senator and as a political campaign professional in California state politics.

Pastre received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science at the University of California, Los Angeles.
