Peter Pastre, Vice President, Government Relations and Public Policy

Peter Pastre was named vice president, Government Relations and Public Policy, in September 2020. He reports to the Postmaster General and chief executive officer.

In this position, Pastre directs a team of more than 30 government relations and policy professionals in advancing the legislative agenda of the Postal Service, congressional oversight activity, congressional correspondence and public policy communication.  

Before this position, Pastre spent nearly three decades as a government relations executive in the private sector, primarily in the global life insurance industry. During that time, he led numerous industry task forces, reform agendas, legislative strategy committees, strategic communications initiatives, coalitions and issue campaigns.  

Before his corporate government relations career, Pastre served as a legislative aide for a United States Senator and as a political campaign professional in California state politics.

Pastre received a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of California, Los Angeles.
