Acting Vice President and Managing Director International Business
Himesh Patel was named acting vice president and managing director, International Business, in May 2026. He reports to the chief customer and marketing officer and executive vice president.
In this role, Patel leads teams responsible for driving the Postal Service’s international strategy, business development, product development, processing and logistics functions.
Before, he served as director, International Strategy and Business Development Support, where he was responsible for developing a cohesive international business plan and providing guidance to senior leadership on international business policies and programs. He drove reformation and modernization of the international pricing policy and oversaw the response to the highly dynamic tariff regime, while expanding the multilateral and bilateral portfolio. He led direct interactions in influencing United States and European Union policies on important regulations and coordinated with U.S. government agencies to create solutions to minimize adverse impact to the Postal Service’s international portfolio.
Patel began his Postal Service career in 1996 as an operations research analyst in Engineering, and took on roles with increasing leadership responsibility. He has experience in performance diagnostics and package and mail visibility. Patel has collaborated closely with Operations, Marketing, Information Technology and Global Business on critical initiatives including 100 Percent Visibility, Intelligent Mail and Full Service. Patel also serves as the chair of the Universal Postal Union’s Standards Board working groups, which develops technical and messaging standards for cross-border exchange mail.
Patel holds a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering from New York University Tandon School of Engineering. Polytechnic University. He is a graduate of the Managerial Leadership Program, Advanced Leadership Program, Executive Foundations and Executive Leadership program, and is a Lean Six Sigma certified Green Belt. He is currently in the Senior Executive Assessment and Development program.
