FORT MITCHELL, AL ---The safety and well-being of our customers and employees is of the utmost importance to the U.S. Postal Service.
Effective immediately, retail operations temporarily will be suspended at the Fort Mitchell Post Office at 825 AL-165, Fort Mitchell, AL 36856-9998. Earlier today, an accident occurred involving a motor vehicle, which resulted in damage to portions of the facility. No injuries were reported.
The Postal Service appreciates our customers’ patience and understanding as we work to make the necessary repairs. We will provide updated information when full service is restored.
For the time being, customers with a Post Office Box at the Fort Mitchell Post Office may continue to pick up their mail at this location. Post Office Box mail will be distributed at the back dock to customers who provide photo identification. Hours of operation: Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Post Office Box mail will not be available on Sunday.
Customers may visit www.usps.com/locations for additional nearby locations. Many Post Office lobbies have Self-Service Kiosks (SSKs) where credit/debit card customers may conduct transactions, including purchasing stamps and mailing and shipping packages. The website will provide information on Post Office lobbies that are accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
