Postal Service Suspends Services Today

Normal services expected to resume tomorrow

BUFFALO, NY — Due to an ongoing winter storm, postal services have been suspended in the City of Buffalo (comprised of ZIP Codes beginning with 142) today. For the safety of our employees and customers, there will be no deliveries, collections, or retail operations until the severe winter weather subsides.

A total of 23 Post Offices will be closed today and are scheduled to resume normal operations tomorrow, Jan. 18. Safety is a top priority, and we appreciate customers’ patience and understanding to keep our employees’ out of harm’s way.

When operations resume, postal officials request the general public’s assistance to keep mailboxes, steps, and sidewalks clear of snow and ice so letter carriers are able to provide the safest, most efficient delivery service possible to avoid interruption of mail delivery.

If you have any questions regarding mail delivery, you can contact the Postal Service Customer Care Center at 1-800-ASK-USPS (275-8777) or visit www.usps.com, at special USPS Service Alerts section found at http://about.usps.com/news/service-alerts/welcome.htm.

The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
