Effective June 27, 2024, the Postal Service™ is revising the Individual Country Listing for Germany in Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, International Mail Manual (IMM®) to note that human and cremated remains are prohibited to Germany.
This revision is based on a formal notification that Deutsche Post (the designated postal operator of Germany) provided through email correspondences dated December 2, 2020, and May 10, 2024.

[Revise the entry “Human remains” to read as follows:]
Human and cremated remains. According to Deutsche Post, the designated postal operator of Germany, human and cremated remains are prohibited in international mail to Germany; however, under certain conditions, an individual might be able to ship such remains by a private shipping courier — an individual has the responsibility of searching for such a courier.
