Effective May 29, 2025, the Postal Service™ is revising the Individual Country Listing for Costa Rica in Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, International Mail Manual (IMM®) to request that the mailer provide the addressee’s fixed or mobile phone number and email address, if available, to items mailed to Costa Rica.
This revision is based on a formal request that Correos de Costa Rica (the designated postal operator of Costa Rica) made through the Universal Postal Union via International Bureau Circular 73, dated April 29, 2019.
