Non–Postal Service Individuals

To order a directive or form you need to know the supply source (from where you actually order the item). There may be a charge for these documents and some are not available to the public.

Use the Public Source column to determine the public supply source code of the directive or form that you wish to order. These codes are explained in the table, Supply Source Codes, which begins on page 8.

Your local Post Office™ should have directives or forms in stock that are free to the public. Call the local postmaster for details. Items that are not stocked at local Post Offices can be ordered by your postmaster from various sources.

Some forms are only electronically generated — there are no hardcopy versions. A customer might be able to create such an electronically generated form by using Click-N-Ship service, the Customs Form Online application, or USPS-approved vendor software, but sometimes such an electronically generated form is available only from a USPS retail facility. To give an idea of what an electronically generated form looks like, the Postal Service provides a representative image on the USPS Intranet at http://blue.usps.gov or on the World Wide Web at www.usps.com.
