342 Acceptable Reasons for Scheduling Special Examinations

Examiners accept the following reasons as justification for scheduling special examinations if adequately supported by evidence of the following:

1. Acts of God.
2. Quarantine.
3. Epidemic.
4. Jury duty or service as a witness.
5. Postal Service admits that it caused the applicant not to be able to report or there are circumstances that substantiate the applicant’s claim.
6. Federal and postal employees unable to attend because of official business.
7. Personal illness or injury, or illness, injury, or death of a family member.
8. Members of religious denominations that observe a religious holiday on a day on which the examination is scheduled.
9. Active duty with a reserve unit of the Armed Forces or National Guard.
