Many vacancies posted externally have one or more entrance examination requirements. Applicants who qualify based on their performance on the applicable examination(s) may receive further employment consideration depending on their examination score and preference-eligible status. However, passing the applicable examination(s) does not guarantee employment with the Postal Service (see chapter 3).
